Hopewell's Purpose:

Our Strategy:
     Worship ~ Discipleship ~ Ministry

Our Vision Statement:
The Vision of Hopewell Baptist Church is to be active in    building the Kingdom of God.  We have a focused purpose of "Leading People" and we believe that Christlikeness is the goal of every genuine Christian.  Through our strategy of Worship, Discipleship, and Ministry, we will
be the Church that Christ called us to be.

As you look around this website you can see that there are many opportunities for us to become the three strand cord so that in the world we live we will not be easily broken.

 What We Believe

We believe the Bible is the written Word of God. It is without error and contains the answers to all of our problems. We believe Jesus is God’s only Son and He came to give us eternal life. John 3:16

He was born of a virgin, died on a cross, was buried, rose again three days later, and ascended into Heaven where He awaits those that believe in Him.

We believe all have sinned and are separated from God. Romans 3:23

We believe the penalty for that sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life. Romans 6:23

Ministry Assistant

Kim Nicholson - Assistant to the Senior Pastor (Lee), and Associate Pastor of Administration (David).
More Info

I have been a ministry assistant and part of the Hopewell Staff since December of 2003, and have been so blessed to be chosen to be here to witness God work in this great congregation. It is amazing to look back over the last  years here - it was just Pastor Lee, Ashley and myself on staff.  The  average Worship attendance was 250, and the average Sunday School attendance was 185! You can look at this Sunday’s bulletin and see for yourself how the Lord is moving.  He is present and very alive here at Hopewell Baptist Church!

And think, we still don’t have any way of imagining how much more He has for us to do! I Corinthians 15:58 tells us to “Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” I look forward to laboring alongside each of you, my brothers and sisters in Christ, for His Unending Glory!

Larry Gooch - I grew up in a loving Christian home in Fort Lawn, SC. After high school, I attended and later graduated from Erskine College, in Due West, SC. As a college freshman, I realized God had a different plan for my life as He called me into full time ministry. During the summer of 1987, I was called to my first ministry position as Minister to Youth and Children. In the past 25 years, I have been given numerous opportunities to serve the Lord in the areas of Youth and Children’s Ministries.

After graduating from Erskine, I met and married the love of my life, Sandy Bradford.  We left South Carolina for me to pursue my Masters Degree in Christian Education at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.   During this time, we were blessed with our children, Drew and Abby.  In 1997, we were called to Union County.

God led us to Hopewell in November 2011 where I consider it an honor to serve in the areas of children and missions.  Whether on our campus or in a foreign country, I believe God is allowing my desire to see people come to a saving knowledge of Christ and grow in their understanding of His love for them to be fulfilled.

Ashley Huneycutt - I grew up in Locust, NC. While in high school I felt the call on my life to go into ministry but resisted. After chasing my dreams and getting the chance to play college football it was all taken away during my second season due to a freak accident. I then transferred to N.C. State University where I started out majoring in Industrial Engineering. It was there during a Campus Crusade for Christ meeting, I surrendered my life to the ministry.
More Info

After graduating from N.C. State in 2002, I spent my summer serving with Campus Crusade and within four months began my ministry at Hopewell.   I am currently working on my Masters of Ministry in Christian Leadership from Covington Theological Seminary.

My wife, Amy,  and I live in Locust where we stay busy with our four kids: Finley, Banks, Bryce and Sloane.
When not serving at Hopewell, I enjoy watching N.C. State football, playing sports, going to the lake with my family, and coaching.
