Sometimes God does His deepest work in the places where no one else can see.

After Elijah boldly stood before King Ahab, God did something unexpected—He sent him away to hide beside the Brook Kerith. What may have looked like a season of inactivity was actually a season of preparation. Before God would use Elijah publicly on Mount Carmel, He first needed to shape him privately by the brook. What God does in us is often more important than what He does through us.

Elijah's time at Kerith teaches us three important lessons:

God's hidden seasons are not wasted seasons. God often prepares us in private for what He plans to accomplish through us in public.

God's provision is always sufficient for our situation. Day by day, God provided exactly what Elijah needed, teaching him to depend on the Source rather than himself.

God's direction doesn't have to make sense for it to be right. Even though Elijah was exactly where God told him to be, the brook still dried up. A difficult road isn't always the wrong road, and disruption doesn't mean God has deserted us.

Whatever season you're walking through, Elijah's story reminds us to obey God's instruction, trust God's provision, and follow God's direction—even when we can't see what He's doing. Our confidence isn't in the brook; it's in the God who provides it.
