The Christian's New Wardrobe

Series: Foundations

Passage: Colossians 3:12-17

What are you wearing—spiritually? In Colossians 3:12–17, Paul unveils the Christian’s new wardrobe: not labels and layers, but a life clothed with Christ. Because we are chosen, holy, and beloved, we put on what He wears—compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, patience, forbearance, forgiveness, and, over all, love (the garment that ties everything together). Then we let the peace of Christ call the shots in our hearts, the word of Christ move into every room of our lives, and we do everything in the name of Jesus with grateful hearts.

In this message you’ll see how to:

  • Put on Christ’s character daily (vv.12–14)
  • Let His peace rule your decisions and relationships (v.15)
  • Let His word dwell richly—through teaching, admonishing, and singing (v.16)
  • Live for His name in every word and deed (v.17)

This week’s practice:

  1. Choose one virtue to “put on” each morning (Col. 3:12–14).
  2. Ask, “What does Christ’s peace ‘umpire’ here?” before a tough decision (v.15).
  3. Give God’s Word the “run of the house”—read it, repeat it, sing it (v.16).
  4. Add “in Jesus’ name” to your day’s to-do (v.17).

If you need prayer, want to follow Jesus, be baptized, or make Hopewell your church home, message us—we’re here for you.
