Wise Men Still Seek Him

Passage: Matt. 2:1-12

The Christmas story isn’t just sentimental—it’s a showdown of worship. In Matthew 2, we meet wise men who search, a king who resists, and a Savior who deserves everything. These Magi weren’t Jews—they were Gentiles—showing from the very beginning that Jesus is the King for every nation, every class, every kind of person.

In this message, we follow their journey and ask the question that still confronts every heart:
“Where is He… and will I worship Him?”

In this sermon:
The Truth they sought: “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews?”
The Trouble they encountered: Herod’s fear, religious apathy, and satanic opposition
The Treasures they presented:
Gold — Jesus is King (He rules us)
Frankincense — Jesus is Priest (He represents us)
Myrrh — Jesus is Sacrifice (He redeems us)

One of the most striking lines in the passage:
They came to Jesus one way… and left another. That’s what a real encounter with Christ does—it changes your direction.

Big takeaways:
The nations belong to Jesus—and will one day worship Him.
The nations are also the mission field of the church—every believer is sent.
You can’t stay neutral about the King. Herod resisted. The scholars ignored. The wise men worshiped.

Question to consider:
If Jesus is truly King, what part of your life still wants the throne?
