Passage: Genesis 43:1-34

The Shadow of El Shaddai

Genesis 43:1–34

When life feels out of control, where do you turn? In Genesis 43, we find a grieving father, guilt-ridden brothers, and a famine that won’t let up. But above it all, we find something greater—the providential care of El Shaddai, God Almighty.

In this powerful message, we return to the story of Joseph and his brothers. Though they don’t yet recognize him, Joseph welcomes them back with unexpected mercy, even as their guilty consciences fear the worst. Their return becomes a portrait of grace—a foreshadowing of how God treats sinners like us.

From this passage, we’ll discover:
* How God uses hardship to lead us to obedience
* How God works behind the scenes, even when we can’t see Him
* How God’s unearned grace melts hardened hearts
* How God brings us to His table, not by merit, but by mercy
*
The name Jacob uses—El Shaddai—means "God Almighty," the One who shelters, sustains, and satisfies His people. And in a moment of surrender, Jacob commits his fears to the God who never fails. What follows is a story filled with undeserved kindness, divine reversal, and fellowship restored.

If you’ve been carrying guilt, questioning God's plan, or wondering if He’s near, this message will remind you: you are not forgotten, and you are not forsaken. God is working in your story, often in ways you can’t yet see.

Join us this week as we explore how to live under the shadow of the Almighty.
