Passage: Colossians

Parenting is holy work—and hard work. In this message, we explore God’s blueprint for shaping a child’s heart: children obeying “in the Lord” and parents nurturing without provoking, bringing kids up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. You’ll see why family health is tied to cultural health, how obedience protects and honors, and how moms and dads can guide with both boundaries and grace—all in a Spirit-filled home.

You’ll learn to:
Teach kids obedience with honor—action and attitude (Ex. 20:12; Eph. 6:1–3).
Avoid exasperating your children—trade perfectionism, harshness, and inconsistency for presence, encouragement, and consistent limits (Col. 3:21).
Nurture & train—shape appetites for what pleases God through loving discipline and intentional instruction (Prov. 22:6; Heb. 12:5–8).
Lead a Word-saturated, Spirit-filled home where Jesus sets the tone (Col. 3:16–17; Eph. 5:18).

This week’s practice:
One verse a day at the table or drive time (start with Eph. 6:1–4).
Affirmation first: speak one specific encouragement to each child before any correction.
Clear boundary, calm follow-through: one rule you’ll enforce consistently (and kindly).
Pray over them by name—30 seconds each, out loud.

For students: Obeying and honoring your parents is one of God’s fastest tracks to wisdom and protection—it pleases the Lord and sets your life up to flourish.
