Passage: Mark 1:9-11

Jesus didn’t begin His public ministry with fanfare. He stepped into the water and took His place among sinners.

In Mark 1:9-11, we see a Savior who identifies with us. Though He had no sin to confess, Jesus was baptized to fulfill righteousness, to picture the rescue He came to accomplish, and to model the path of humble obedience for His followers. As He comes up from the Jordan, heaven opens, the Spirit descends, and the Father declares, “Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

If you’ve ever felt unseen, unworthy, or far from God, don’t miss this: Christ entered our world, our weakness, and our burden, so that sinners could be brought near and made accepted in Him.

Watch the full sermon and be reminded of the Savior who stepped into the waters for us.
